Taking responsibility for unhappiness is a means by which unhappiness is overcome and satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana attained. What does it mean to take responsibility for unhappiness? It means to realize that the self is the cause of unhappiness. It means to realize that the self is the cause of satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana. Taking responsibility for unhappiness means to realize that it is through one's self that one becomes unhappy. And it means to realize that it is through one's self and self effort that one overcomes unhappiness and attains satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana. And through this realization one must make the effort to overcome unhappiness and attain satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana. The responsibility for overcoming unhappiness and attaining satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana lies with one's self. |
