Renunciation is a means by which unhappiness is overcome and satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana attained. How is renunciation a means by which unhappiness is overcome? Through renunciation one gives up that which helps maintain unhappiness. And through renunciation one gives up that which hinders the attainment of satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana. Renunciation frees one's self to create new circumstances which help one attain satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana. Renunciation frees one's self to seek and find a new direction. And renunciation frees one's self to follow a new path. The circumstances which must be renounced are the circumstances which cause one to feel unhappy. And those circumstances one must discern for one's self. One must act on one's own judgment as what to renounce and what form of discipline to pursue. And the discipline which will help attain satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana one must seek and find one's self. |
