Knowledge is a means by which unhappiness is overcome and satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana attained. Through what knowledge is unhappiness overcome and satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana attained? Unhappiness is overcome through attaining all forms of knowledge. How is knowledge a means by which unhappiness is overcome? Unhappiness is a lack of knowledge. And satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana are gradual increases in knowledge. Therefore, to grow in knowledge means to grow in satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana. What of those who gain knowledge yet remain unhappy? One may attain knowledge yet remain unhappy. One must discriminate between knowledge which helps one overcome unhappiness and knowledge which brings no results. If the knowledge one has attained brings no results, then one must seek and find new knowledge which helps overcome unhappiness. |
