Following the self is a means by which unhappiness is overcome and satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana attained. How is following the self a means by which unhappiness is overcome? It is one's natural dream and desire to overcome unhappiness. And it is one's nature and inclination to grow and attain satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana. Therefore, following one's self naturally will lead one to overcome unhappiness and attain satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana. The self is one's path. And one can only follow what is in one's self. One's dreams and desires are one's path. One's life is one's path. Following the inner most self, the essence of one's being, is what is right for one's self and will lead in the right direction. If following one's self leads one to overcome unhappiness, why are so many who are following their self remaining unhappy, lead astray and hindered from following the path that will lead to overcome unhappiness? We live in the age of unhappiness. And those who are unhappy follow a path that keeps them unhappy. It is true that one may follow the self and remain unhappy. One is remaining unhappy because one is following others who are maintaining their unhappiness. It is when one follows another who dwells in the state of unhappiness that one is lead to maintain unhappiness. If one is following the self and still maintaining unhappiness, to overcome unhappiness one must search within one's self for a new direction. One must seek a change and a transformation in one's self. To follow the self means that if one finds one's self remaining unhappy; that one must follow the self into a new direction, a change of direction, and a transformation of one's present direction into a direction which leads to satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana. To follow the self means to transform one's self to a self that brings results. To follow others means to remain the same as others who maintain unhappiness. One must follow the self into a transformation of the self. It is because everyone has a different self, and is at different stages of development in the growth of the self, that what maybe right for one person may lead another in the wrong direction. And it is because so many people are maintaining unhappiness that by following another helps to keep one's self unhappy. The best way to find a path that brings results is to follow the inner most self, the essence of one's being, even if it disagrees with others. Disagreement with others is a sign that one is on the right path, because so many are following a path that keeps them unhappy. To follow a path that leads to satisfaction, happiness, nirvana and parinirvana is bound to disagree. Choosing a path by following the inner most self is the way to find the path that will bring results. |
